Katie Smith, a graduate from the Class of 2025 at Alton High School is the daughter of Eric and Melissa Smith. She describes herself as dependable, independent, and ambitious. Katie embodies the qualities of a young leader poised to make her mark on the world.
As a child, Katie dreamed of a career as a private investigator, fascinated by solving mysteries. Over time, she discovered a passion for pediatric nursing. Following graduation, Katie plans to attend a four-year university to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and pursue certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), a career path she believes will allow her to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives.
Katie’s leadership skills shine through her involvement in extracurricular activities. She serves as President of both the Beta Club and FFA chapter, in addition to holding the office of FFA Area Secretary. Balancing her leadership roles with athletics, Katie is also involved in track and cross country, demonstrating her dedication to both academics and personal growth.
Her proudest achievement is being elected FFA President, a role that reflects her commitment to her peers and her ability to lead with integrity.
Outside of school, Katie enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, as well as caring for her animals—particularly her beloved pigs.
Katie’s bucket list includes traveling to the Virgin Islands, running a marathon, and attending the Olympics. In ten years, she sees herself married with a great career as a pediatric nurse.
When asked to reflect on her school years, Katie expresses no regrets, believing that every experience has been part of her journey.
Katie greatly admires her parents, who have been her ultimate role models. They exemplified the qualities Katie aspires to embody, unwavering support, and belief in her dreams. Their encouragement instilled a strong sense of humility. Growing up in a faith-centered environment taught Katie invaluable lessons that continue to guide her throughout her life.
