We had a surprise visitor at the Book Fair today!

PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS: students in grades 5-12 who have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred during the 12 months prior to the date of the application should apply. Awards can be given from a local honoree level to distinguished finalists to state honorees to national honorees. Our school will review all applications and then select and certify the top candidates for state level judging. You may apply at https://aim.applyISTS.net/spirit. See Mrs. Gilliland if you need more info. DEADLINE TO APPLY IS NOVEMBER 5TH.

SENIORS: HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP due next Friday. Very few applicants in the state have completely finished and/or submitted applications - you might want to get busy with this! www.horatioalger.org.

12th-9th graders: Register at www.strivefair.com for the MOACAC College Fair to be held at Alton on Thursday, Oct. 24th at 1:00. You will receive a barcode to use which allows colleges and career centers to scan your info! Much simpler than filling out a form for each school!

Wow! It's already the end of the 1st Quarter! On Monday, October 14, elementary students with 95% attendance and ZERO office referrals will be treated to lunch at Tucker Creek. Those students who meet these qualifications will walk over, enjoy a picnic lunch and some play time at the park.

SENIORS & JUNIORS: MSU - West Plains College Recruiter will be here on Monday, October 21st. Make sure to sign the list on Mrs. Gilliland's bulletin board if you would like to meet with her.

National Online Safety believes in empowering parents, carers and trusted adults with the information they need to hold informed and age-appropriate conversations about online safety with their child, should they feel it is needed. Every Wednesday they produce guides to focus on specific platforms/risks which they believe trusted adults should be aware of. #WakeUpWednesday

Dr. Steele recognized HS Beta sponsors, Mr. Brian Foerster and Mrs. Lisa Thompson, for achieving 2018-2019 National Beta Educator of Distinction status. This award is designed to honor Beta sponsors who are committed to Beta Club growth, include members from all eligible grade levels in their club and participate in National Beta events with their students. Because of the efforts of Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Foerster, Alton High School has achieved School of Distinction, School of Merit, and enriched students’ lives by attending a Leadership Summit, State Convention and National Convention. Congratulations Mr. Foerster and Mrs. Thompson!

Held every October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.#becybersmart
