
New Counselor's Corner and Scholarship List have been posted under the document sections in the school website!

Sr.'s: The GWFC Alton Culture Club Scholarship application has opened. See the essay you need to write by February 15th to be considered in your google classroom.

Senior Females: Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship for those planning to major in education with an ACT composite score of at least 20 should apply. See application in your google classroom.

Juniors: Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative CYCLE program is now open for applications. Please use the paper app that you were given by Dakota Bates or log on to www.hoecoop.org to apply by February 18th. See Mrs. Gilliland for help if needed.

The elementary assembly that was originally scheduled for last Friday (2/1) has been rescheduled for this Friday (2/8) at 2:00. If you were invited to attend because your child was being recognized, please make plans to be there.


This is Eric Allen. There will be no school at Alton R-IV on Friday February 1, 2019 because of overnight freezing drizzle and black ice. The FBLA trip scheduled for this morning is also cancelled.

Progress Reports for students in grades 4-12 will be emailed to parents today (1/31/19). Please review your child's grades and contact your child's teacher(s) if you have questions or concerns. If you do not have an email address on file, a paper copy will be sent home with your child tomorrow. Please contact the office if you do not receive your child's grades, or if you would like to request a paper copy.


Jr. High AND Sr. High Students: AgDiscovery is a 2-4 week summer program for students interested in learning more about plants, animals, and agribusiness. Over the last 2 summers, 4 Alton students attended and had great experiences. See Mrs. Gilliland for more info.

Students ages 14-17 interested in exploring the economic way of thinking are invited to apply for The Foundation for Economic Education Educational Summer Camps. Learn more at FEE.org/seminars.

SENIORS (& PARENTS): 25, yes, 25 NEW scholarships opened today (or tomorrow). Check out your senior Google classroom! Many come from the www.cfozarks.org link. 53 scholarships (some connect to more than 1) are currently open!

SENIORS & JUNIORS: Three Rivers College Recruiter will be here on Wednesday, Feb. 13th at 2:50. If you would like to meet with her, please sign the list on Mrs. Gilliland's board.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We are so excited to announce that our very own Mrs. Margaret Hufstedler is a published author! She has been working diligently with Hameray Publishing Group to write STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) books for students. What an accomplishment! This is just one of the many books she has authored. We are so blessed to have such a talented teacher in our district. She is one of many! CYCLE Program Presentation by Dakota Bates from Howell-Oregon electric for juniors has been rescheduled. He will be here to meet with all juniors at 2:50 on Thursday, January 31st.

SOPHOMORES: The SCCC trip to West Plains is still on for Thursday (as long as we are in school). Make sure to bring your permission form to school Thursday morning. Don't forget your lunch money-we will eat in West Plains!
