We started our morning at Alton Elementary with an assembly. We plan to make monthly assemblies a routine part of our month throughout the school year. Each assembly will focus on a specific part of our Comet Matrix. Today, students focused on showing their Comet Pride by always being prepared. Students also learned about proper bathroom behavior. The classrooms who collected the most tickets for the month were announced as well. The assembly turned out to be lots of fun and a huge success! We look forward to our next assembly at the end of September!
Good morning! We want to thank all of the parents that attended the Elementary Parent Information Night! We loved seeing parents come out to support our programs.
If you were unable to attend, we want to share a few of the slide shows that may be of interest to you.

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
Have you heard about our Cosmo Kid of the Day Program??? Each day in the elementary, students are rewarded with tickets for following the Comet Code (school rules). If a student chooses to, he or she may use a ticket to enter for a chance to be the Cosmo Kid of the Day. The two chosen students have their names announced during morning announcements and also get to ride around in the super cool seats pictured below for an entire day! The students are loving this opportunity! #EveryCometCounts #PBS #CometPride

All Alton Elementary students have now successfully completed Comet Boot Camp! Here at Alton Elementary, we decided to spend the first two days of school teaching students the rules in each setting of our school (playground, cafeteria, bathroom, hallway, bus, classroom). We know it is important for our school to have consistent rules for everyone- from preschool to 6th grade. We've also learned that when students learn the rules first, teachers can gain up to 30% more instructional time due to avoided behaviors and disruptions. We ended bootcamp with a celebratory assembly today where students showed what they had learned in a game of family feud! Students also learned about Comet tickets and how they can be rewarded for their positive behavior. Please take a minute this weekend to ask your child to teach you how to show Comet PRIDE!
We at Alton Elementary are so excited for the new school year and all the positive things going on around school. For the safety of all students, we ask all parents to PLEASE wait to drop off your children AFTER 7:40. Teachers are not required to be on campus until 7:35; therefore, there is no guarantee of supervision. In addition, the exterior doors will be locked until that time. Thank you! Enjoy this fantastic school year! #EveryCometCounts
