
#AltonElem will be celebrating Grandparent’s Day Tomorrow at 11:00 in the Cafeteria. The luncheon is for all grandparents of students in kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Kindergarten students will eat at 10:30. First and 2nd Grades will eat at 11:00. The Grandparent’s Luncheon for students in 3rd-6th Grades will be held next Friday (9/13). Please look for notes to be sent home tomorrow about this event.


High School, FBLA members and officers have until September 24th to pay for dues ($10) and t shirts ($10).

Check out our "Lock Box". Located outside Mrs. Gilliland's office, students can fill out a slip of paper if they have a "need" that we can try to meet! If you need supplies, clothes, a friend, or even prayer, just fill out the form and put it in the box. Mrs. G. will take it from there.



Alton Elementary will be saving Best Choice Labels this year. Our school will earn 3¢ for each label collected. Please send any Best Choice labels you collect to school with your child.

Beginning Thursday, September 5, Open Library will be available every Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-5:00. A parent or designated adult will need to accompany any participating student.

The junior class will be raising funds for PROM! The junior class is selling 5 gallon buckets of laundry detergent and so much more! Make plans to purchase your laundry needs at a fraction of the cost from any AHS junior class member. Fundraising will start Thursday (9/5/19)!


SENIORS: We will do the senior group picture in the gym on September 13th at 12:30. Directly after, we will do the charter seniors pic. Prepare for this to take around an hour total. If you have any questions, get with Mrs. Clary.

7th-12th Grade Students: Mrs. Gilliland has updated/created google classrooms for each grade level. If you were in one last year, you are still in it this year. If you didn't accept your invitation or are new this year, you should be getting a new invite in your school email! Please join! DUE NOVEMBER 5 - ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP - 500 4-YEAR AWARDS FROM $4000 TO $50,000 - seniors will be judged on Scholarship, Leadership, and Financial Need. Apply at enf.elks.org/mvs.

DUE OCTOBER 31 - MASFAP WHO’S MAKING A DIFFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP - any 2019 senior graduating from a Missouri High School planning to attend a private, public 2 or 4 year institution, or vocational-technical school in MO should apply. Go to www.myscholarshipcentral.org to apply.

DUE OCTOBER 25 - HORATIO ALGER NATIONAL & STATE SCHOLARSHIPS - up to $25,000 - full-time seniors who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree (can start at a 2-year college). Must demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. If your high school student is enrolled in a Rosetta Stone Foreign Language course, please remember they need to make a $40 (cash or check made payable to AHS) security deposit for the use of the headphones, ASAP. They may also purchase their own USB combo speaker & headphone.

JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES, FRESHMEN: U.S. MILITARY SERVICE ACADEMY DAY is Saturday, September 14 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO. State Representatives and Senators will attend as well as representatives of all four Military Academies.

SENIORS & JUNIORS: Three Rivers College - Poplar Bluff will be here Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 2:50. Get your name on the sign up list on Mrs. Gilliland's bulletin board to meet with her.

Stored in Mrs. Gilliland's restroom closet - just step in, say I need something, and grab it and go! If there is something you need not in there, leave a note and we will see if we can provide it!
